For my personal essay class, I have to read this book by Ruth Reichl. I have to say, it is wonderful! It is written in a conversational style; it is driven by stories that involve food, and it includes the recipes mentioned. I have never read anything by Reichl before. I have to say, after reading the Marlowe book about heroin and the Didion book about grief,
Tender at the Bone is a "breath of fresh air."
I agree this was a much easier read particularly being told chronologically. My only real complaint was it didn't seem to have the story arch the others had so I when I finished it, it didn't seem like a whole story was told. For some reason I was upset that the homeless woman who stalked her never came back. But as complaints go i suppose that's pretty small.
